Custom Made Apparel

4 mins read.

Have you browsed through our ready-made apparel designs and found nothing that suits you?

Do you already have a custom design for your Corporate T-Shirts/Apparel and just want to proceed with customising your own t-shirts/apparels from scratch?

Then sure! We, at Newsy Prints, can produce factory-made apparels which is specially and custom-made for you or your company based on your individual requirements. Majority of our customers opt for custom-made apparels which offers them the flexibility of their own unique corporate apparel.

For the order process, such as quotation, placing order, payment terms, delivery and etc., refer to our walkthrough on the Newsy Prints ordering process!

Custom-made VS Ready-made

You can always refer to our ready-made catalogue to obtain a rough idea of what you require and let us know you want custom-made apparels out of those.

      • The difference is that ready-made apparels are usually already produced and in stock locally whereas custom-made apparels are produced on-demand by our factories offshore
      • The pros of ready-made apparel is that lead-time is much shorter and additional effort of designing t-shirt is not required. Customers opt for this usually when they need it urgently or do not have a specific requirement in mind or quantity is low.
      • The cons of ready-made apparel is that apart from printing designs, there isn’t much left for customization hence the apparel is much less unique.

Some points to take note of:

A few factors of consideration for factory custom-made apparels with us:

1. Order Quantity:

As custom-made apparels are usually made-to-order with our factories, we would usually require at least a minimum order quantity of 50-100, depending on the desired designs of the apparel. We usually support quantities ranging from 50, all the way to 20,000 or more!

However, if required, we can also do a lower quantity order, although the unit prices will be higher. Otherwise, you may also consider ready-made apparels that are sourced locally.

2. Order Lead Time:

The lead-time of the custom-made apparel projects can range from 2-8 weeks upon confirmation of order, depending on the quantity and complexity.

For larger quantity orders (>1500), another factor to consider, apart from our factories’ own manufacturing lead-time, would be the delivery time-frame. We would have to split the deliveries by different batches (one batch would roughly be about 500 quantities) and this might sometimes lead to slightly longer overall lead-time. We perform the deliveries ourselves! But fret not, this is something we have been doing for decades and we’ll put in our best to meet your time-frame. In the event we can’t, we would be sure to inform you timely.

If you require apparels more urgently, we would suggest going for ready-made ones.

3. Fabric Materials & Colors:

In the apparel, garment and textile manufacturing industry, there are numerous types of fabrics, weaving types, colors, and etc. Each manufacturer have their own available materials, colors and etc. We would usually find the best suited ones for you from our available choices.

For a list of our available fabric materials and colors for custom-made apparels, kindly refer to Fabric Materials and Colors

It is also perfectly fine for you if you do not need to go down to that level of details. Just simply tell us your intended material in general (e.g. Dri-fit, Cotton, Blended) and intended use (e.g. for employees mostly outdoors, or indoor air-conditioned use, etc.) and we can recommend the material for you.

4. Apparel Style:

Apparel Style essentially includes more information on the desired apparel including:

    • Apparel Type (e.g. Round-neck T-Shirt, Polo T-Shirt, Uniform, Singlet, etc.)
    • Collar Type (e.g. Standard Polo Flat Collar, Stand Collar, Mandarin Collar, Crew-neck/Round-neck, V-neck, etc.)
    • Sleeve Type (e.g. Short Sleeve, Long Sleeve, 3/4 Sleeve, Sleeveless)
    • Button/Zip (e.g. number of buttons, colored buttons / clear buttons, zip, etc.)
    • Pocket (e.g. Front outer pocket, Front inner pocket, sleeve pen-pocket, etc.)

5. Apparel Design:

If you have a desired t-shirt design, feel free to specify! It would be better if you could provide us an artwork/virtual design on the apparel so we can visualise better.

Some common addition apparel designs:

Colored Bracket: Dual Toned or different colors inner/outer bracket. Either single or double colored inner bracket.

Piping: Piping is an additional fabric strip trimmed into the garment to define edges or style lines of the apparel. In our cases, it is mainly used for additional style or design look.

Trimming: Trimmings in our custom-made apparels are additional sew-ons for design/decoration purposes, usually with a different color as the T-Shirt’s base color. The difference between trimming and piping is that trimming is sewed within the fabric itself whereas piping is more of an additional fabric add-on to the edge.

Ribbed Sleeve / Sleeve Cuff: For Short Sleeve T-Shirts / Polo T-shirts, some customers opt for a sleeve cuff for aesthetic (different color contrast with t-shirt base) as well as wearer comfort (ribbed cuff have a tighter grasp at the sleeve edge). T-Shirt short sleeves usually go for a normal sleeve end whereas Polo T-Shirts go for a cuffed sleeve. Long Sleeve T-Shirts, on the other end, usually go for a ribbed cuff end.

6. Printing Design

Once you have finalised your apparel design concept/artwork, the next important aspect is the designs (i.e. company logo, company name, etc.) to be printed on the T-Shirt/Apparel to establish your Corporate Identity and branding.

Design: Our customers will usually provide us their design artwork (usually company logo, company name and details, or in certain industries, certification logos, etc.) and intended size of the design. Customers may either provide us the specific measurement of the design or we may recommend the ideal measurements.

While it is ideal to have more printing designs to showcase your corporate branding, sometimes less is more. Moreover, the unit price of the apparel increases with the number of printing designs, size of printing designs and number of colors of the printing designs.

Design Placement: When sending us your design artwork, it would be also ideal to indicate the intended placement of the printing designs. Some common placement our customers usually have:

    • Small to medium sized Company Logo printed on front left chest or on left front pocket  (usually 4cm to 10cm)
    • Small sized company logo or wordings on sleeves (usually around ~4cm)
    • Large company logo, name and details on t-shirt/apparel back for more visibility (usually 20cm to 35cm)

Printing Types: There are numerous ways of printing designs on apparels and each method has its pros and cons, and is ideal for different use cases. The 3 main methods of printing are listed below.

    • Silkscreen Printing: This is perhaps the most common printing method, especially for large quantity orders. While it is usually more ideal for designs with fewer colors (more cost effective), screen printing produces excellent quality prints that is durable and long-lasting, with sharp and vibrant color results. Ideal for T-Shirts / Polo T-Shirts / Uniform

  • Embroidery: This is also one of the most common printing method, where it involves delicate needlework by stitching colored threads onto the fabric or garment to form the design. It is usually used for corporate logos as it looks more professional and sophisticated. It adds more depth to printed designs, supports more colours, and usually lasts longer than other printing methods.

  • Heat Transfer Printing: This method of printing refers to the process whereby the printed design (usually full multi-colored) is heat-pressed or pressure onto the fabric/T-Shirt from a heat-transfer paper or vinyl. It is usually used for printing designs with multiple colors and color gradients, as well as for lower quantity orders.

7. Additional Requirements

You may also specify any additional requirements you need in your custom-made apparel that is unique to your corporate needs. For example, some of our corporate clients require PVC Reflective Tapes sewed on to their T-Shirt sleeves and body due to work nature and environment requirements of their employees.
